Carolinas GCSA ribbon cutting ceremony

OK, I'm back with a ew more photos from the Carolinas ribbon-cutting ceremony. As you probably know by now, the CGCSA purchased their own headquarters building, a 2,200-square-foot office in Liberty, S.C. For more, check out the Front 9 section of the May issue of GCM, or just click here.
The first photo is of Palmer Maples Jr., CGCS, past president of the CGCSA, Paul M. Alexander, past executive secretary of the CGCSA and Landon C. Miller, also a past executive secretary of the CGCSA, doing the honor of the ribbon cutting.
The next few pictures are of some of the views you have inside the new HQ... including an office and the boardroom.
A few sound bites from the ceremony:
"This didn't happen in one day. This started in 1954. Back when we were in our early 30s, did we ever imagine this? We thought it was pretty cool when we rented the old headquarters up the street!" David S. Downing II, CGCS, past president of the CGCSA and current president of the GCSAA
"It doesn't matter what the building looks like on the outside -- it's what's on the inside of the building. The pictures on the wall, the staff, the members... we are the Carolinas GCSA." Mitchell Wilkerson, CGCS, president of the CGCSA (pictured below)
"This is the culmination of all the decisions over the years, all the hard work. We're all happy to see we have this building. We're always trying to improve, to make our association better... and this was a great decision." William D. Anderson, CGCS, 1982 CGCSA president
"I have to thank Chuck Borman and his staff... they're still (in Liberty) because of their staff. I'd like to thank them for growing, and staying here in Liberty. ...I just wish someone would come here and build us a golf course!" Brian C. Deese, mayor of Liberty, S.C.
My parting thoughts on the event: What a great day. Beautiful
weather, wonderful hosts... every one of the Carolinas members treated
me and my friend Thomas (Lervik Jr., a frequent commenter on this blog)
so wonderfully... I have a lot of thank you notes to write, that's for
sure. But let me do one publicly and thank Chuck Borman, Tim Kreger
(CGCSA director of programs) and Cindy Baldwin (CGCSA education
coordinator) for hosting me, and for showing me such a great time.
That's the way you host a grand opening, folks! Well done, CGCSA.

What a great facility and a wonderful group of guys. Thanks for having me along for the ride and even including me in a photo, you got my good side.
