As the PGA Tour heads to Milwaukee's Brown Deer Park this weekend for the U.S. Bank Championship, a huge tip of the GCM cap to the maintenance team there, headed by course superintendent Tim Wegner and Brian Zimmerman, the chief of operations for the Milwaukee County Parks. In case you missed the story, the course's 17th green was the target of some pretty nasty vandalism just three weeks before the tournament was to tee off. Remarkably, the green is expected to be playable for the tournament, which is a credit to the crew at Brown Deer Park and some of the innovative thinking that went into helping the green back to life. The entire saga is detailed in the GCSAA TV video we've posted here.
So when this weekend's coverage of the British Open ends for the day, flip on over to Golf Channel to watch a little of the U.S. Bank Championship. Wegner, Zimmerman and the rest of the folks at Brown Deer Park deserve all the positive publicity they can get.
