A few tidbits, nuggets, news and notes to take you into the Halloween weekend:
- As we like to do occasionally, we want to bring your attention to the goodness that is GCSAA TV. If you can find a better video portal to all things golf course management ... well, don't even try because there isn't one. We're turning the GCM blog spotlight on this video about the greens reconstruction project at Congressional CC, but there is much, much more on the site itself. New content is posted several times weekly, so make sure to bookmark the site.
- Another addition to the star-studded list of superintendent bloggers that we maintain here on the blog (you can find it on the right side of the page): CGCS Joe Wachter and Glen Echo CC in St. Louis, Mo. The 19-year GCSAA member started the blog primarily as a communication tool for his membership and has done a great job of incorporating plenty of photos and exacting descriptions of work being done of the golf course. You can check it out right here.
- Send a few good thoughts the way of Class A superintendent Al Osteen at Annandale GC in Madison, Miss. Right now, the 14-year GCSAA member is supposed to be hosting the PGA Tour's Viking Classic. However, soaking rains that have plagued the area all month have refused to yield this week, so the first two rounds of play have been postponed. That's the first time two consecutive rounds on the PGA Tour have been postponed since 2005. All told, the course received more than 15 inches of rain in October, and that's before the rain that has fallen this week. This story from PGATour.com has all the details about Friday's postponement.
