The fourth incarnation of the Green Start Academy, the career development program for assistant superintendents put on by Bayer Environmental Science and John Deere, has teed off at Bayer's training and development complex in Clayton, N.C.
If you've been in the industry for any length of time, you've probably heard about this initiative. You might even know an assistant superintendent who's been through the program (over 200 courses in the United States and Canada have been represented in the last four years). I've been fortunate enough to attend two of these events — as well as a precursor event Bayer put on five years ago — and can attest to the valuable information and education that is laid out for the assistants in attendance.
Since I'm here again this year, I thought we'd utilize the blog and our Twitter account (our username is @GCM_Magazine, for those interested in following us) to give you some almost real-time updates on the events in Clayton. We're just under way here, listening to NC State's Grady Miller discuss water management issues, and have presentations by GCSAA's Dave Fearis (on career development) and Bayer's Nick Hamon (on sustainable development) on the agenda for this afternoon. We'll also tour the Bayer facilities here in Clayton, and I'll share photos from that as well.
Stay tuned.
