Tomorrow is National Golf Day in our nation's capital, an event that will feature the official launch of the We Are Golf coalition, along with a host of other activities.
We'll tell you much more about both in a post tomorrow, but for today, we have a little preview from a member of the GCSAA delegation who has traveled to Washington D.C. for the event — Jeff Bollig, GCSAA's managing director of marketing and communications. He filed this report with me shortly after his arrival in D.C.:
Navigating Washington D.C. can be a challenge. It is a beehive of activity with business being conducted at a fast pace and at all hours of the day.
GCSAA's Government Relations Committee is meeting today and tomorrow at the offices of the association's lobby firm, Reed Smith. Members of the GCSAA board, staff and other GCSAA members will be traversing Capitol Hill to tell the story of golf as part of the We Are Golf Coalition participating in National Golf Day. It is the third consecutive year the golf industry has visited our nation's capital in a coordinated effort. Every member of the golf industry alphabet will be here.
There will be several media opportunities as well, including a media conference on Wednesday that will include GCSAA CEO Mark Woodward, CGCS and GCSAA member Rafael Barajas, CGCS Hacienda Golf Club. Both will also appear at 12:30 p.m. (eastern) on Wednesday on CBSNews.com daily feed.
Did I tell you navigating Washington D.C. was a challenge? On my way in from the airport a tree fell in the middle of the road and we narrowly averted a broken windshield or worse. I quickly remembered what GCSAA members have often told me. They don't necessary hate trees, they just hate where they are placed at times.
Stay tuned for more on We Are Golf and National Golf Day.
