I'm in Greensboro, N.C., visiting with the fine folks of Syngenta. Today was meetings, tomorrow I get a tour of their facility.
This is the second time in as many months that the stars have aligned for me on a trip... this time, my visit was moved back a week so I could meet with a few Syngenta research and development people. Syngenta's annual Biological Research and Development meeting is going on right now, so the opportunity was offered to me to meet with some of the minds behind the development of the products being used on golf courses around the world.
A lot of information from a lot of big brains was kicked my way today. As Scott Cole, turf market manager for Syngenta put it, "So, was that like drinking from a fire hose?"
Tomorrow will be a big day so I'm going to keep this short tonight. Expect a few more updates from me on this trip the rest of the week, though.
Pictured above is some of the brain trust I met with today: Bryan Delp, Ph.D., regional manager lawn and garden, biological research and development; Bert Wagemans, development and technical head, lawn and garden; Cole; J.R. James, Ph.D., technical manager, lawn and garden; Martin Bolsinger, Ph.D., head lawn and garden controls research and science communications.
Bolsinger is located in Stein, Switzerland; Wagemans is from Denmark; Delp works in Vero Beach, Fla.; the rest are from Greensboro. So, truly a unique group of people to get in one room today! And honor for GCM, really.
