And in the good news category, the following press release was issued from GCSAA yesterday, announcing the promotion of Scott Hollister to editor-in-chief of GCM.
My only complaint about the press release? It fails to mention Hollister's mastery of fantasy football! I was glad not to join the GCSAA league this year, because I was sick of him taking my money every year! And in his buddy league, he's on some unprecedented streak, like 5 years in a row of winning the championship. I don't know how his friends can look at themselves in the mirror everyday.
But seriously, congrats, Hollister, from all of us here at GCM!
Scott Hollister, an award winning journalist of 22 years, has been promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Golf Course Management magazine, the monthly publication of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
A member of the GCM staff since 1998, Hollister will also help guide the association's efforts in the continuing convergence of content across its various communications platforms: print, digital, online, video, electronic member newsletter, electronic industry newsletter and specialty productions.
While producing GCM, Hollister has won numerous national awards recognizing his work, most recently a writing award from the Turf and Ornamental Communicators Association (TOCA), while the publication has earned national awards from TOCA, Association Media and Publishing (formerly SNAP) and Folio Magazine in that same period. He has served as managing editor and editor, including the responsibility for guiding the editorial direction for the past five years. Hollister also ushered GCM into the digital world through the creation of the GCMblog, Twitter account and digital magazine. Hollister is a member of the Golf Writers Association of America, Association Media and Publishing and TOCA.
"Scott is well deserving of this promotion," GCSAA Interim CEO Rhett Evans said. "He is an accomplished journalist, well-respected in the industry and deserves considerable credit for building GCM into the industry's leading publication. Scott will be a crucial contributor to the convergence of our communications vehicles. This will continue our objective to deliver content to the consumer when they want it and how they want it."
GCM continues to be regarded by GCSAA members as one of the most valuable programs and services the association offers.
"It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of those talented individuals who edited GCMbefore me," Hollister said. "Each made his mark on the publication and I hope to build on what they have created. Our strength, however, lies in a team of experienced journalists and communicators who continue to provide valuable information on a daily basis to GCSAA members and golf course management professionals across the globe."
The GCSAA communications team offers more than 125 years of experience in reporting, editing and design focused solely on the golf course management industry.
