Hello, GCM readers.
Today is my last day at GCSAA and with GCM.
GCM and GCSAA have been great to me. I can’t stress that enough. I was hired by Ed Hiscock and Teresa Carson way back in 1999, and I’m so thankful I got the job. That internship led me to where I am today… I never would have thought back then that I would have been with GCM for over ten years, but that’s what happened and I’m proud of that. I had a blast writing and reporting for GCM, and I hope it showed.
I think back to all the cool things that this job enabled me to do. For the sake of fun, here is Jonesy’s top 10 GCSAA moments of all time:
10. Introducing my wife, daughter and mother-in-law to Greg Norman and Chris Evert at the Golf Industry Show
9. Interviewing Lorena Ochoa in Guadalajara
8. Seeing the Endeavour launched from 10,000 feet as my airliner flew past Cape Canaveral at the same time as lift-off (see photo)
7. Volunteering for a week in post-Katrina New Orleans
6. Joining Alice Cooper for a round of golf
5. Killing a few beers with Scott Hollister on Amen Corner at the Masters
4. My two trips to golf in the Dominican Republic
3. Playing a prank on John Wake on his 30th birthday, making it look like I stuffed his office with shipping popcorn (see photo below, check out the top of the cubicle…)
2. Taking Nick Price’s private jet to Cancun
1. Making lifelong friends here, people like Adrianne Jones, John Wake (RIP), Eric Neuteboom, Bart Littlejohn and so many others.
Like I said, this place has been good to me. I’d like to especially thank the GCM staff, past and present, for all their encouragement and support.
Good luck Jonesy,
Thanks for all your contributions to help make GCM the industry's top magazine. I have really enjoyed your work and I'm sure you will be missed by many. Best wishes to you and may you find success in your next endeavor.
