We've received word that Dennis Lyon, CGCS, the manager of golf for the city of Aurora, Colo.'s golf division and a former president of GCSAA, has been selected to receive the 2011 USGA Green Section Award, which will be presented during the Green Section's education session, Friday, Feb. 11 at the GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show in Orlando.
Lyon has established himself as one of the game's leading voices on municipal golf during his long career in Aurora, and served as GCSAA's president in 1989. We're expecting a formal release from the USGA later this week on this honor, so we'll bring you more on this big honor for Lyon at that time.
