The golf world lost a key ambassador Tuesday.
Thomas W. Chisholm, 76, died at his home in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. In recent years, Chisholm's contributions were focused on the promotion, research, education and improvement of playing conditions on golf courses.
Chisholm was chairman of GCSAA's initiative Environmental Institute for Golf from 2004-06. He also served on the USGA Executive Committee from 1990-96, was president of the Golf Association of Michigan from 1989-90 and worked as a rules official at multiple U.S. Opens and the Masters. He was a member of Bloomfield Hills Country Club, Seminole Golf Club, Orchard Lake Country Club and the Royal and Ancient in St. Andrews, Scotland.
Chisholm was elected for induction to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol, and daughters Donna Chisholm and Kathleen (Jack) McInerney and sons Tom (Mary Cecile) Chisholm Jr., and Patrick (Lisa) Chisholm.
