David Withers was promoted to president of Jacobsen, it was announced today.
Withers (pictured), who has served as managing director of the Ransomes division at Jacobsen, moves into his new role beginning Oct. 1. Withers takes over for Dan Wilkinson, who is retiring after 14 years from Jacobsen, a Textron Company.
"I'm very excited about this opportunity," Withers said in a prepared statement. "Having worked in the golf and turf maintenance industry for over 25 years, 19 of those with the Jacobsen team, this appointment is what I have always aspired to. I look forward to working with the team, growing our market share around the world and continuing Jacobsen's leadership in turf maintenance products."
In 1992, Withers joined Textron as a regional sales manager for Jacobsen in the United Kingdom. Four years later, he was promoted to the position of national accounts manager, focusing on developing business in Europe. In 2002, Withers was promoted to sales and marketing director until 2005, when he became managing director of Ransomes Jacobsen.
Textron CEO Scott Donnelly said: "With his broad international experience, which spans over 45 countries, and his strong track record in business development and operational excellence, I am confident that he is the right person to maximize the growth opportunities that lie ahead for Jacobsen."
Under Wilkinson's leadership, Jacobsen says it made strides in operating efficiency and reinvigorated its product offering, highlighted by Eclipse 322, the world's first hybrid riding greens mower.
New prez says "Jacobsen's continuing leadership in turf maintenance products"? When did that leadership take place?
