An official statement that Phoenix Environmental Care has been acquired by United Phosphorus, Inc., is expected to occur in the next few weeks.
"It's hard to find a negative for anyone in this," Phoenix Environmental Care President Owen Towne told me. "I would say the integration process has fairly well started."
Phoenix Environmental Care, in essence, takes products whose patents have expired in the turf and ornamental market and improve them. The charge is similar for United Phosphorus, Inc., offering growers high quality and tested crop protection.
Golf course superintendents will benefit from this union as much as anybody, according to Towne.
"This is good for everybody, most importantly, good for superintendents," Towne said. "We will continue to provide them with high quality products to meet their needs. It gives us the opportunity to provide superintendents better products."
We will continue to report on the deal when the companies reveal details next month, so stay tuned.
