Each year, the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) meets in conjunction with the Agronomy Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America so that scientists from the three groups can exchange ideas and share the latest results from their research. The C-5 Division of the Crop Science Society is the Turfgrass Division, whose members are familiar to superintendents through college classrooms, GCSAA’s Education conference and the research pages of GCM.
The 2011 CSSA meetings were held Oct. 16-19 in San Antonio, Texas. The turfgrass group continues to be one of the most active divisions of the Crop Science Society. This year graduate students presented 64 oral presentations and 56 posters describing research that is in progress or has been completed recently. The C-5 Division, the turf industry and the Turfgrass Breeders Association present awards for the best oral presentations and posters. The categories and the winners are listed below.
