It seems odd to be posting this just a few days removed from a remarkable early season winter storm that pounded the Northeast, but clearly it's not that region's first bout with Mother Nature in 2011. Just a few months ago, the area and golf courses up and down the coast were cleaning up following flooding brought about in large part by Hurricane Irene.
In this month's issue of GCM, which should be hitting your mailboxes any day now, free-lance writer Mark Leslie went in-depth with many of the superintendents affected by the flooding to see how they were coping with the disaster and their plans for getting the courses playable again.
In our work putting that story together, we gathered more than 75 photos showing exactly what had happened on those Northeast golf courses. We could only use a handful in the story, which you can read now in our digital edition, so we thought we'd share a few more here on the blog. You can check out the "Northeast Flooding" photo album in the column to the right to see additional photos from courses in New York and Vermont.
