Even though it's already mid-afternoon on the East Coast and back home in Kansas, I'm kinda just getting my day started here at Olympic Club for the second day of blogging from inside the ropes at the U.S. Open (this Pacific time zone thing takes some getting used to). And I'm starting that day with a photo album highlighting my time with the 100-plus members of the maintenance team Monday afternoon and evening.
If you look carefully at the middle column directly to the right of this column, you'll find a photo album called "2012 U.S. Open @ Olympic." I'll be updating that album throughout the week with photos of other maintenance activities I observe, interractions between the media and director of golf maintenance operations Pat Finlen, CGCS (can I stop using that full title every time I mention Pat now? Is that OK with everyone? Or maybe just use the DGMO acronym? Throw me a bone here), and any other intersting thing I encounter in my time at Olympic.
I've got a leisurely stroll around Olympic and a return trip to the maintenance facility on my agenda for later today. In addition, today is one of the most active days in the media center's interview room — Tiger has already stopped by, and Bubba is at the podium as I write this — so I'll share player reactions to course conditions and set-up as well. Plus, I'll introduce you to Celeste Repsher and the crucial role she is playing around the maintenace facility this week.
