Thanks to a grant from the Environmental Science division of Bayer CropScience, five golf course superintendents will be able attend, with virtually all expenses paid, the 2013 GCSAA Education Conference (Feb. 4-8) and Golf Industry Show (Feb. 6-7) in San Diego.
Golf course superintendents eligible for the program are those who did not attend the last two GCSAA Education Conferences and Golf Industry Shows (Las Vegas 2012 and Orlando 2011). Interested superintendents should complete and submit the online application or contact GCSAA member services at 800-472-7878 to receive an application via fax. Each grant will cover expenses for airfare, hotel accommodations for five nights, conference full-pack registration, two education seminars and $200 spending money.
"The purpose of the grant is to assist golf course superintendents with their professional development, and no other opportunity can match what they experience at conference and show," GCSAA President Sandy Queen, CGCS, said. "We greatly appreciate Bayer's continued support of this program and their recognition of the role of the golf course superintendent in the success of a golf facility."
This grant is driven through efforts of GCSAA's philanthropic organization, the Environmental Institute for Golf (EIFG), which generates support for the golf course management profession as a means to foster sustainability. This is the 10th consecutive year that Bayer has supported the EIFG's mission through this program.
"Bayer recognizes the importance of professional development to staying current in the industry," said Jimmy Johnson, Bayer Environmental Science fungicide business manager. "We are pleased to continue our relationship with GCSAA and the EIFG by helping five golf course superintendents further their industry expertise at the 2013 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show."
Entries will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2012. The winners will be selected through a random drawing, and the EIFG will notify winners by Nov. 5. Only one application will be accepted per person. GCSAA membership is not required to apply.
