The pomp and circumstance has ended (at least for now) and the GCSAA Golf Championships are officially underway with today's Four-Ball competition. But before those results begin rolling in, wanted to share a few photos from the first few days of action here in San Diego, provided by yours truly and our good pals at Montana Pritchard Photography, who will be assisting us all week in Southern California during the tournament, the GCSAA Education Conference and the Golf Industry Show.

Although this event is a ton of fun for staff from both GCSAA and our generous corporate sponsor, The Toro Co., there is also a little sadness involved this year as we say goodbye to Heidi Elser (right), the tournament's manager, who is relocating with her family to Colorado. We all gave her a little going-away present last night, presented here by our tournament director, Jim Cummins. We'll miss you, Heidi! (Photo by Scott Hollister)
The tee prizes for competitors this year are gift certificates to a "mobile pro shop" with merchandise from Adidas, Ashworth and Taylor Made, among others. Big crowds all night long last night. (MP)
Last night's Welcoming Reception drew a big crowd to the outdoor terrace at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, perched right off the 18th hole of the famed South Course at Torrey Pines. (MP)
Today's Four-Ball competition was played out over three different facilities — the North Course at Torrey Pines, Maderas Golf Club and Aviara Golf Club, pictured here. (MP)
In addition to a round of drinks for all, any hole-in-one during today's play brought with it another reward — a brand-new Toro Workman. So far, the utility vehicles have been safe. (SH)
Welcome to San Diego! (MP)
