Some visitors to the GCSAA/GCSANJ hospitality tent chat outside the tent Sunday afternoon.
It was photo day at the hospitality tent, as many of the volunteers on hand wanted to commemorate their experience at Baltusrol. (From right) Upper Course Superintndent Doston Kish, Director of Grounds Mark Kuhns, CGCS, and Office Manager Janet Kuhns pose for this photo.
Kish sets the irrigation system on the Upper Course to give the greens a quick syringe to combat Sunday's heat and humidity.
The fourth hole on the Upper Course is serving as a parking lot this week. It took Kish until Tuesday to convince parking officials to use the rough areas on this hole to park cars, and not the fairway itself.
This is the 14th hole on the Upper Course, also serving as a parking lot this week. The only areas on the Upper Course that were off limits to the PGA of America were tees and greens.
Support areas for the PGA Championship took up other portions of the Upper Course, while more parking can be seen in the background of this photo.
Well, at least spectators were encouraged to drive "slow" when they were on the fairways of the Upper Course.
Not every part of the Upper Course was serving as a parking lot or brown with wear and tear.
The main pedestrian walkway from where buses were dropping off spectators to the main gate cut right across the ninth hole on the Upper Course.

This is what currently sits on one of the fairways of the Upper Course -- the corporate tents that make up the Tillinghast Village. You can clearly see the line between the turf directly under the platforms and the turf that has suffered traffic damage.
Some of the fairway grasses under the tented areas on the Upper Course have grown as much as four inches since they were put in place.
If you ever needed proof of the benefits of aerification, this is it. This photo is taken from a section of the 14th fairway on the Upper Course that thousands of cars passed over this week. The dark spots -- the turf that held on despite the constant beating -- are the aerification holes.
A more close up shot of the aerification holes from the Upper Course's 14th fairway.

A pair of maintenance staff workers watch the storm that eventually halted play on Sunday afternoon.
The hospitality tent was a crowded spot during the final weather delay that ended up forcing the postponement of play until Monday morning.
The flags and tee markers were hurriedly picked up off the course when play was suspended for the final time. Some found temporary homes at the maintenance facility as workers quickly dumped them to hit the course to collect more.
